Little Sky Bear and the Dragon

By Amy Jackson | Illustrated by Donna Paredes

Most children today will never see a truly dark sky because light pollution obscures the celestial wonders that inspired countless generations. Little Sky Bear will rekindle that lost connection.

It’s the enchanting story of a mighty dragon who finds himself lost and alone in a strange land. After rescuing a bear from a hunter’s trap, they become unlikely friends. When the reckless hunter continues his pursuit of the bear, the dragon must find the courage to protect his friend.
The story brings to life four constellations in the night sky of the Northern Hemisphere, telling a tale of friendship, wonder and the beauty of the cosmos. Little Sky Bear and the Dragon is the second book in the Night Sky series from the mother-daughter duo of Amy Jackson (Starry Sky Austin founder) and Donna Paredes. Richly illustrated and lovingly told, Little Sky Bear and the Dragon is a must-have for young dreamers, stargazers, and lovers of magical adventures.

Perfect for ages 6-10, Little Sky Bear and the Dragon is an unforgettable story that will spark imagination, inspire exploration, and remind us all of the wonder waiting just beyond the glow of city lights.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR | ILLUSTRATOR

Amy Jackson and Donna Paredes

Amy Jackson inspires others to connect with the night sky through her role as director of Starry Sky Austin. Amy is concerned that most of us live in light-polluted places where we can’t see our Milky Way galaxy, and she is working to change that. Amy lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband, her collection of telescopes, three daughters, two dogs, a gecko named Pepper, and a pond of fish.

Donna Paredes is Amy’s mom and a talented illustrator, artist and an all-around wonderful mother. Donna always loved drawing since she was young. During her career as a registered nurse, she never stopped painting and drawing. Today, painting is her passion. Cassandra and the Night Sky’s illustrations are the first time Paredes has experimented with colored pencil, and she discovered a true love for it. She currently lives with her husband in Brenham, Texas, and enjoys her summers in Colorado.
